Another gorgeous day on the beach - our last one. Tonight we're outside of Salina, right next to an upscale resort called the Meridien. I walked over there earlier to buy a postcard, and it's by far the fanciest place we've seen in a long while. I believe if you want to upgrade to a room there, it's something like $80 for a single. There were still 2 people thinking of getting a room, though I don't think they did in the end. I had to settle for a postcard and half a piece of chocolate torte that someone else couldn't finish. It was very tasty, I have to admit! Good timing on my part to arrive just as she was about to toss it. I even tried to help pay but she absolutely refused.
I also got two more key chains carved tonight, by one of the campground staff. I originally thought I would get several but the cost is quite a bit higher here, so I stayed with two. They are ebony wood, which is nicer, and the carving is very good, so I guess the price is almost justified. I paid half of what he asked, but it was still 3 times what I paid a few days ago.
It looks like we may again have the campground to ourselves, which would be nice. Steve tells me there's a contingent of British soldiers at the hotel, who are likely to wander down to our bar and party all night with the women from our truck. Let's hope I pitched my tent far enough away, but I doubt it.
